Maïmouna Doucouré is a Franco-Senegalese screenwriter and director whose films serve as a social commentary on the refugee experience, often from a child’s perspective, and reflect her personal background as the daughter of immigrants. Her short film, Maman(s), was selected to over 150 international festivals and won nearly 50 awards. Maïmouna’s debut feature film, Cuties, premiered at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival and won the Global Filmmaking Award and Best Direction prize. The film was also awarded the Special Mention from the Generation Plus International Jury in Berlin. She is the recipient of the Gold Fellowship for Women from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences.
